Summer 2023

Currently Loving: Vibrant Blues, Graphic Lines, and Graceful Movement

Here is a round up of some of the pieces I fell in love with this summer. Some of these pieces are inexpensive prints and some are original fine art works; so please be assured that we can always find options for every budget and for every collector!

Tracy Murrell’s resin figurative works are stunning, and I was lucky enough to tag along this summer for a private tour of her show while a friend was purchasing a piece for a private corporate collection. I love how the silhouettes are always so clearly a true portrait, but also leave room for a larger interpretation. I never cease to be amazed with Kelly Ording’s surgically steady line work, and she too seems to be a big fan of a rounded corner frame as well which complement her work beautifully. Amanda Joy Brown’s playful graphic beachscape is a brighter version of her ongoing series of crowds, which I love for their detail and playfulness. Laura Berman can do no wrong in my mind - from the tiny monoprint I have in my living room, to these editioned prints of layered warm tones which reminds me of the sand in a bottle we used to make as kids. Thomas Jackson’s photographs of his installations of fabrics in the wind are so soothing to me - watching the videos of the works in situ is so beautiful, and I would love to see an installation in person. But for now, I will settle for his photography and think about some cool ocean breezes.
